AMCON Distributing Company operates in the Groceries, general line sector. AMCON Distributing Company (AMCON) operates in two segments: wholesale distribution segment (Wholesale Segment) and retail health food segment (Retail Segment). The Company's Wholesale Segment distributes consumer products in the Central, Rocky Mountain, and Southern regions of the United States. Its retail health food segment (Retail Segment) operates 14 health food retail stores located throughout the Midwest and Florida. During fiscal 2010, the Company completed the acquisition of convenience store distribution assets of Discount Distributors from its parent Harps Food Stores, Inc. (Harps). Discount Distributors was a wholesale distributor to convenience stores in Arkansas, Oklahoma. During fiscal year ended September 30, 2010 (fiscal 2010), the Company opened a new Akin's Natural Foods Market store in the Tulsa, Oklahoma market.
