Charter Financial's business activity is the ownership of CharterBank. Its business consists of attracting retail deposits from the areas surrounding its administrative office in West Point, Georgia and its 16 branch offices located in west-central Georgia and east-central Alabama, and investing those deposits, together with funds generated from operations, in investment securities, commercial real estate loans, one- to four-family residential mortgage loans, construction loans and commercial business loans, home equity loans and lines of credit and other consumer loans. In March 2010, it completed the acquisition of four branches of McIntosh Commercial Bank (MCB) and closed one branch.
