Nucor Corporation operates in the Blast furnaces and steel mills sector. Nucor Corporation and its affiliates (Nucor) manufacture steel and steel products. Nucor also produces direct reduced iron (DRI) for use in the Company's steel mills. It operates in three segments: steel mills, steel products and raw materials. The steel mills segment produces sheet steel (hot and cold-rolled), plate steel, structural steel and bar steel. The steel products segment produces steel joists and joist girders, steel deck, fabricated concrete reinforcing steel, cold finished steel, steel fasteners, metal building systems, steel grating and expanded metal, and wire and wire mesh. During the year ended December 31, 2010, it entered into an agreement with Mitsui & Co. (U.S.A.) to form a newly created company, NuMit LLC, in which it owns a 50% interest.
