Smith (A.O.) Corporation operates in the Motors and generators sector. A. O. Smith Corporation is a manufacturer of water heating equipment, serving a diverse mix of residential and commercial end markets principally in the United States. The Company operates in one segment: Water Products. The Water Products business manufactures and markets line of residential gas, gas tankless and electric water heaters, standard and specialty commercial water heating equipment, copper-tube boilers, water treatment products, and water systems tanks. The Company offers water heating products using renewable solar and heat pump technologies worldwide. On July 1, 2010, the Company acquired the rights from Takagi Industrial Co., Ltd. of Fuji-City, Shizuoka, Japan, to market tankless water heaters in North America. During the year ended December 31, 2010, the Company discontinued its Electrical Products business. In August 2011, Regal Beloit Corporation acquired electric motor business of A. O. Smith Corporation. In August 2011, the Company acquired Lochinvar Corporation.
