Amerigo Resources Ltd operates in the Copper ores sector. Amerigo Resources Ltd. (Amerigo) is a Canada-based producer of copper and molybdenum concentrates with operations in Chile. Its operating subsidiary, Minera Valle Central S.A. (MVC), has a contract with Chile's state-owned copper producer National Copper Corporation (Codelco) through 2021, to process the tailings from El Teniente, an underground copper mine. During the year ended December 31, 2010, Codelco produced 1.782 million tons of copper. The fresh tailings come from El Teniente's production, and the old tailings mainly from a tailings pond located near MVC's plant that contains more than 200 million tons of material. The Company produced 46.60 million pounds of copper in 2010. In addition, Amerigo produced 777,304 pounds of molybdenum.
