Emera Inc. operates in the Electric services sector. Emera Incorporated is an energy and services company, which invests in electricity generation, transmission and distribution, and gas transmission and energy marketing. Its subsidiaries include Nova Scotia Power Incorporated (NSPI), Bangor Hydro Electric Company (Bangor Hydro) and Emera Brunswick Pipeline Company Ltd (EBPC). NSPI is an integrated regulated utility, which provides electricity generation, transmission and distribution services to 489,000 customers in province of Nova Scotia. In 2010, it acquired following acquisitions: Digby Wind Project, 38% interest in Light & Power Holdings Ltd. (LPH), 26.1% interest in Atlantic Hydrogen, Maine & Maritimes Corporation and 55.4% interest in Grand Bahama Power Company Limited. In January 2011, it acquired NV Energy, Inc. and 41.6% interests in LPH. In December 2011, its subsidiary, Emera Utility Services Inc. acquired utility line and communications construction, installation and maintenance business of Green's Service Station Ltd.
