Shoppers Drug Mart Corp operates in the Drug stores and proprietary stores sector. Shoppers Drug Mart Corporation (Shoppers) is the licensor of full-service retail drug stores operating under the name Shoppers Drug Mart (Pharmaprix in Quebec). As of January 1, 2011, there were 1,182 Shoppers Drug Mart/Pharmaprix retail drug stores owned and operated under license by its licensees. The Company also licenses or owns 59 medical clinic pharmacies operating under the name Shoppers Simply Pharmacy (Pharmaprix Simplement Sante in Quebec) and eight luxury beauty destinations operating as Murale. In addition to its drug store network, as of January 1, 2011, the Company also owned and operated 63 Shoppers Home Health Care stores, making it a Canadian retailer of home health care products and services, including the sale and service of assisted-living devices, medical equipment, home-care products and durable mobility equipment to institutional and retail customers. During the fiscal year ended January 1, 2011, the Company opened or acquired 75 drug stores.
