It is operational through three customer-based business segments and the Other segment. The Paper segment provides customers within the pulp and paper industry with chemicals aimed to improve their profitability, water, raw material and energy efficiency. The Municipal & Industrial segment manufactures municipal and industrial water treatment chemicals. The Oil and Mining segment supplies chemical extraction and process solutions for the oil and mining industries. In segment Other, the ChemSolutions unit focuses on serving customers on food and feed markets as well as in the pharmaceutical and chemical industries. Kemira is active globally in approximately 40 countries. In 2010, the Company spun-off its decorative paints and coatings subsidiary, Tikkurila.
