Santam Limited operates in the Fire, marine, and casualty insurance sector. Santam Limited (Santam) is South Africa-based Company, along with its subsidiaries, transact all classes of short-term insurance. The Company operates in two segments: insurance activities and investment activities. Insurance activities segment is engaged in commercial insurance, personal insurance and alternative risks. Investment activities segment is engaged in all investment-related activities undertaken by the Company. On January 1, 2010, Santam acquired 33.3% in Centriq Holdings (Pty) Ltd. In January 2010, Santam acquired the remaining 33.3% interest in Centriq Insurance Company Ltd. Effective September 1, 2010, the Santam Group acquired Indwe Broker Holdings (Pty) Ltd. On December 31, 2010, MiWay Group Holdings (Pty) Ltd became a wholly owned subsidiary of the Company, when Santam acquired Sanlam Life Insurance Ltd.'s 68.75% interest in the Company.
