Business Description:

Vedanta Resources operates in the Copper ores sector. Vedanta Resources plc is a diversified metals and mining company. Its segments include aluminium, copper, zinc, iron ore and energy. The aluminium business consists of bauxite mining, alumina refining and aluminium smelting operations in India, and trading through the Bharat Aluminium Company Limited and The Madras Aluminium Company Limited. The copper business includes a copper smelter, two refineries and two copper rod plants in India, trading through Sterlite Industries (India) Limited; one copper mine in Australia, trading through Copper Mines of Tasmania Pty Limited, and an integrated operation in Zambia comprising three mines, a leaching plant and a smelter, trading through Konkola Copper Mines PLC. Its zinc-lead business includes zinc-lead mining and smelting operations, and trading through the Hindustan Zinc Limited. The Energy segment includes the sales of surplus power from Captive Power Plants. On February 15, 2011, it acquired Anglo Americal Lisheen Finance Limited.
