African Copper is engaged in the exploration for, development and mining of, copper deposits in the Republic of Botswana. Its projects include Mowana Mine, Thakadu Mine and Matsitama Project. Its main project is the copper producing open pit Mowana mine. The Mowana Mine, owned by the Company's subsidiary Messina Copper Botswana (Pty) Limited is located close to Botswana's Francistown, in the north-eastern part of the country. Mowana and all estimated mineral resources and reserves are part of the Dukwe Project, comprising; exploration license PL 33/2005, with an area of 139.6 square kilometers, and (within that exploration license) mining license 2006/53L, with an area of 32.7 square kilometers, and exploration license 180/2008, covering an area of 114.4 square kilometers to the north of PL 33/2005.
