The Education segment includes publication and distribution to schools and libraries of children's books, classroom magazines, supplemental classroom materials, and print and online reference and non-fiction products for grades pre-K to 12 in the United States. The International segment includes its international operations, and export and foreign rights businesses.

Sales Analysis. During the year ended May of 2017, sales at Scholastic were $1.74 billion. This is an increase of 4.1% versus 2016, when the company's sales were $1.67 billion. Sales of Children's Book Publishing and Distribut saw an increase of 4.9% in 2017, from $1.00 billion to $1.05 billion.
