Thyssenkrupp AG is a Germany-based diversified industrial company. It operates in six segments: The Steel Europe segment produces flat carbon steel products; the Steel Americas segment processes and markets steel products in North and South America; the Materials Services segment engages in the global distribution of materials and the provision of technical services for the production and manufacturing sectors; the Elevator Technology segment specializes in the construction, modernization and servicing of elevators, escalators, moving walks, stair and platform lifts, as well as passenger boarding bridges; the Industrial Solutions segment offers engineering and construction services, and the Components Technology segment offers components for the automotive, construction and engineering sectors, as well as for wind turbines. Its product portfolio comprises construction vehicles, chemicals, packaging steel and parts for the wind energy and oil industries, among others.

Sales Analysis. During the year ended September of 2017, sales at ThyssenKrupp AG were 41.45 billion Euro (US$48.65 billion). This is an increase of 5.6% versus 2016, when the company's sales were 39.26 billion Euro. Despite this increase, sales are still below the level achieved in 2015, when ThyssenKrupp AG reported sales of 42.78 billion Euro. The sales level in 2017 was fairly close to the level five years ago: in 2012, ThyssenKrupp AG had sales of 40.12 billion Euro. Sales of Steel Americas saw an increase that was more than double the company's growth rate: sales were up 20.7% in 2017, from 1.26 billion Euro to 1.53 billion Euro. ThyssenKrupp AG also saw significant increases in sales in Material Services (up 15.2% to 13.36 billion Euro) and Components Technology (up 11.2% to 7.56 billion Euro) and Steel Europe (up 16.0% to 7.38 billion Euro) . Not all segments of ThyssenKrupp AG experienced an increase in sales in 2017: sales of Industrial Solutions fell 4.3% to 5.49 billion Euro.
