Sales Analysis. Toray Industries reported sales of ¥2.03 trillion (US$19.07 billion) for the fiscal year ending March of 2017. This represents a decrease of 3.7% versus 2016, when the company's sales were ¥2.10 trillion. Contributing to the drop in overall sales was the 13.2% decline in Carbon Fiber, from ¥186.20 billion to ¥161.61 billion. There were also decreases in sales in Fibers and Textiles (down 4.0% to ¥856.12 billion) and Plastics and Chemicals (down 4.2% to ¥499.10 billion) and Life Science (down 3.0% to ¥54.15 billion) . However, these declines were partially offset by the increase in sales of It-Related Products (up 1.3% to ¥254.44 billion) and Environment and Engineering (up 1.5% to ¥186.11 billion) and Other (up 1.5% to ¥14.94 billion) .
